The Information We Collect and How We Use It
Donor Points reserves the right to share information you provided in summary and/or aggregate form with our sponsors, our partners and other third parties. For example, this data does not contain personally identifying information such as a full name or e-mail address. This data also does not contain personally identifying information such as a full name or e-mail address.
Your Electronic Relationship with Our Marketers and Advertisers
Only with your consent will we share your enrollment contact information, including your full name, zip code and e-mail address, with marketers and advertisers who message you through the Donor Points Service. If you so desire, this will enable you to foster a relationship with the marketers and advertisers and receive electronic communications from them. While we enter into agreements only with major brands with good business practices, Donor Points will not be responsible for marketers’ and advertisers’ actions, including, without limitation, their use of information you supply to them.
We use other third parties such as Reward Partners (retail gift cards being one example) to provide rewards for participating in our e-mail and web service program. When you sign up for the e-mail and web service program, we will share your program specific membership number and other information as necessary for the third party to provide that service. These third parties are prohibited from using your personally identifiable information obtained from Donor Points for any other purpose including their own marketing. As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically. This information may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data to analyze trends in the aggregate and administer the site.
We employ a software technology called Web Beacons (a.k.a. clear gifs, pixel tags, web bugs) that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, Web beacons are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We normally do not tie the information gathered by Web beacons to our customers’ personally identifiable information. Sometimes, when a member takes an action on our site or an advertising partner’s site, a web beacon will inform Donor Points of such action so appropriate miles can be awarded. We use Web beacons in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see “Choice/Opt Out”.
The Donor Points site may contain links to other Internet sites that are not operated or controlled by Donor Points . We cannot control and are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or goods and services available on such websites.
